Advanced Dental Services & Technology – Portales, NM
The Latest Technology for the Best Care
Dr. Thompson prides himself on providing the best possible dental care and customer service to patients and families in Portales. A major part of the reason why he’s able to do this lies in his commitment to keeping up with the latest advancements in dental technology. The instruments used in dental offices today makes diagnoses faster and more accurate, and the treatments themselves are more precise and comfortable than ever. Below are some key examples of devices and equipment that Dr. Thompson personally selected to make sure that our patients had plenty of reasons to smile.
Traditionally, having a new dental crown or other restoration created was always a multi-appointment saga that involved plenty of waiting in-between. Thankfully, CEREC expedites this process without sacrificing quality! The technology helps Dr. Thompson design and mill a beautifully custom crown right here in-office while the patient waits comfortably. This means that by the end of just one visit, you'll have a newly restored tooth.
Our Canon intraoral cameras allow you to take a close look at your own smile so that you can see exactly what we see. You won’t have to imagine what we’re talking about when we recommend specific forms of treatment; you can see the damage firsthand for yourself so that you can fully grasp why a specific kind of treatment might be required. Using intraoral cameras on a regular basis has dramatically improved our ability to communicate with patients and help them make confident decisions about their care.
Using Dexis digital X-rays has several advantages over traditional radiography. For one thing, the images can be developed in much less time so that you aren’t stuck waiting in the treatment area while we’re working in a separate dark room. The results are also much clearer and can be enhanced so that we can closely examine problematic areas where disease and damage have occurred. Finally, digital X-rays involve less radiation exposure, making them a much safer option.
CT/Cone Beam Scanner
Our Galileos cone beam scanner gives us more detail about your mouth than we could gather with regular X-ray images alone. The scanner doesn’t just take one picture of your mouth; it combines multiple images into a single 3D model that tells us where blood vessels, nerves, and other important oral structures are located. With this much detail, planning advanced procedures so as to avoid unnecessary complications becomes much easier. This device has become a key component of dental implant placement.
Digital Impression System
When you’re told that your dentist needs to take an impression, you might grimace because you remember having to hold an uncomfortable amount of messy dental putty in your mouth for entirely too long in the past. Today, though, we prefer digital impressions with our state-of-the-art CEREC system. Not only is the process far quicker and more enjoyable on your end, but it also improves the quality of the results, meaning there’s less of a chance that we’ll need to take impressions again in the future.
Soft Tissue Laser Dentistry
Lasers are changing the way dentists diagnose certain oral health issues and treat conditions such as gum disease. With our Periolase dental laser, we have made periodontal therapy a much more efficient and painless process. Now we can very quickly remove infected or damaged tissue while simultaneously sterilizing the area so that the remaining gums have a chance to heal. They also give us a different way to treat anxious patients who might be bothered by traditional dental instruments.
